Julie Harmieson

Julie is the Director of Education & International Strategy at TISUK, with over 23 years of experience in education, specialising in supporting children and young people with social, emotional, and mental health difficulties (SEMH) and/or challenging behaviour. She has worked at both practitioner and senior leadership levels across mainstream and specialist education settings.

A former Headteacher of a Primary Alternative Provision, Julie has extensive leadership experience in developing and embedding trauma-informed practice across several Multi Academy Trusts. As Trust Lead for Trauma-Informed Practice, she has successfully guided schools in creating environments that promote mental health, well-being, and inclusion for both students and staff.

Julie also provides consultancy, supporting teachers, education professionals, and counsellors with individual and group work involving vulnerable and challenging students. Her work spans training, coaching, mentoring, and supervision, with a focus on building school communities that prioritize mental health and create equitable, inclusive educational experiences.

Passionate about removing barriers to learning and engagement, Julie is dedicated to helping children and young people achieve their full potential by supporting and challenging schools to develop inclusive practices that foster positive, supportive environments where all members of the school community can flourish.
